Standing up for the long-lasting goals of the UNESCO
SDGs – sustainable development goals – encompass the objectives of the UNESCO to promote a better future “by the people and for the people”. SDG6 is a working group founded by Augustin Perner (CEO Probig GmbH), Massimo Di Bella, and Josef Schnaitl (CEO Gis Aqua Austria GmbH) in November 2017 and is part of the European SME Business Cub (ESBC). Based in Brussels, the ESBC provides a discussion table for the common interests of SMEs while also supporting them in their networking. Also a member of the ESBC, the interests of SDG6 lie in making sustainable and clean water a human right in every country.
Bringing SMEs together and working towards common goals
The primary goal of the ESBC is to bring SMEs together and establish, voice, and advocate for the common interests of businesses not only in Europe, but also in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and South America. Furthermore, the project aims to facilitate a better understanding of the EU as many SMEs are often poorly informed about European developments and the stages of the EU decision-making procedures. By gradually building up a platform and thus paving the way to Brussels for SMEs throughout Europe, it should become easier for such businesses and their members to benefit from all the opportunities and challenges the European Union provides.
Striving to ensure clean water for everyone
Ensuring access to clean water for everyone worldwide is the number one goal of SDG6. As experts in water treatment, the members of SDG6 endeavor to be stronger, more efficient, and more successful in their quest to maintain the world’s most precious resource: water – not an easy challenge if we consider the mounting pressure from growing domestic demand, economic activities, urban development, and climate change. By way of finding solutions, settling projects, building networks of knowledge, and supporting better water policies and regulations in Europe and worldwide, these SMEs hope to enable changes in the future that will not only benefit mankind, but also our invaluable environment.
Brussels March 2019
Members of the ESBC, amongst them Augustin Perner and SDG6, gather on March 19th, 2019 at the European Parliament in Brussels to discuss “The Global Future of Water”. Representatives from SMEs all across Europe examine the realities of the water crisis we in part already find ourselves in and how saving water and managing water resources more efficiently can be put into practice. Experts present their profound knowledge, well-grounded concerns, and innovative ideas on the topic and put their heads together to further work on a better future for water on a global scale. And when there are no meetings, SDG6 and other SDGs continue to practice cross-border networking by inspiring new business partners, inducing cooperation in research, and stimulating marketing ideas, all potentialities not yet realized sufficiently by the European SMEs.
